Allyson Petrek (she/her) is a writer based in Cincinnati, Ohio. Drawing on her twelve years as a public school educator and her life now as a wife and mother of two young children, her writing explores contemporary womanhood. Her prose is grounded in the physical and the specific, finding emotional truth in small, ordinary details as she examines themes such as grief, motherhood, aging, and connection. She writes with a sharp eye, a dry wit, and an unsentimental tenderness.
Allyson’s short works have won awards and have been published in various literary magazines. Committed to developing her craft, she is a contributing member of a weekly critique group and regularly participates in local writing workshops. She is currently working on her first novel.
